I have an old PayPal account that has been locked out for some unknown reason (no, I don't owe anyone any money). I created a new account and wanted to close out the original account. I went to the CONTACT US page explaining the situation. They said I either had to log into the old account to close it (can't log in, stupid...duh) or use the CONTACT US page without logging in but using the e-mail address. So I get another e-mail telling me that I have to log into my account before they can take any action (stupid X2). I tried calling the help desk number that is posted.....to verify my account they want the telephone number that was used when the account was set up. Hmmm....I've moved about 6 times since this account was set up. I have no idea what the telephone number was that I used. I DO have the username and password. Why isn't that enough? The "automated genie" that is used under CONTACT US is absurd.....lovely no-help loop that it puts you through. It would be really really cool to talk to a REAL PERSON instead of a computer...or have they outsourced those as well? HELP!
