Hi there everyone. Is there any hope for me other than taking this to small claims court? I've filled complaints with the BBB, Angie's List, Home Advisor, where I was given the business reference, and PayPal. PayPal just today, awarded me a small amount back, which I requested from Hinrich Poppinga, as they agreed with my claim, from the first payment I made to the father of the person who owns this business, as I made the payment to him for a "service". The 2nd payment, made to the business owners cousin for the 2nd part of the landscape services was made as a personal payment, $333.33, which PayPal says I can't find a claim for, since it was a personal payment. There is no way that I can find to request help from PayPal for a refund of the payment I made to Scott Davis, the cousin. Details of the transactions follow: I hired Mr. Poppingas son, Christopher Poppinga, dba as "Down South Services", to do what I would call "phase 1" (weed and stump removal, tree trimming, debris removal) of a landscaping project and potentially other work at a home I just moved out of in order to prepare to put it on the market. Christopher Poppinga destroyed a 25 year old bush I had trained to drape over my head, and never completed the work I paid both his father (phase 1 payment) and cousin (Scott Davis, phase 2, putting weed paper, flowers and mulch in several locations) for. Details: Actual costs to replace the 14' ligustrum bush that was destroyed could exceed $2000.00 per a professional landscape and nursery company. Additionally, the phase 1 and 2 portions of the work I paid for were never completed. Debris from tree, weed and unauthorized 14' ligustrum bush removal were left in my yard. A stump I paid to have removed was not removed. I have asked Scott Davis - Christopher Poppingas cousin, per Christopher texts, for a refund of the funds Christopher Poppinga asked me to send to him for the 2nd part of the job. Christopher had asked me to send the first payment for phase 1 of the work to his father Hinrich Poppingan. Christopher stated that an ex-girlfriend had run up charges affecting his bank account, and that's why I needed to pay other people, but also stated that for the 2nd payment, his Father was at work - the implication being "unavailable". I originally guessed as to what the cost to put in something nice in the space where my beautiful ligustrum was. Other information received from Christopher Poppinga as to why he didn't finish the work I hired him for: Her wrecked his truck, his truck was at the towing yard, he experienced a concussion, he fell asleep in the tub and dropped his phone in the tub. Hinrich Poppinga has not responded to previous direct email from me asking for renumeration using his PayPal email address, which I can provide a copy of. Please assist.
