I often use PayPal to send contributions to different websites. However, there seems to be no way for me to tell if they are aware of receiving money and if they ever actually did something with the money I've sent (i.e.: withdrawn it to their bank account or spent it). My concern is that sometimes these accounts that I send money to are inactive (i.e.: the person may no longer be online or may no longer be using their PayPal account), and the money could be sitting there forever without actually being "received" (in a useful sense, rather than the money having been transferred to their account) by the recipient. I've also had a few times that the money is deducted from my account and after talking to the person I sent it to, it never showed up in their account (they had an out of date PayPal account in their link which they no longer used, having created a new one.) Is there a way to know if money that I've sent is sitting in an account, forever lost? Or must I rely on thank-you emails from recipients (which often aren't sent even when the funds have been received and withdrawn) to know that the money was picked up by the recipient instead of sitting lost in their account? Thanks!
