My story I am a 15 year old kid that is saving up for his first car. I played a game called 'Runescape' and I dealt in selling currency. Yesterday I had a deal for $570 USD that was to go down. All went well, we used a 'middleman' for extra security, I received my money, he received his gold. I then went to send the funds to my bank, beaming ear to ear, so I could finally afford my first car However, when I logged into my email later that night I noticed I had three new emails informing me of a claim that has been made against the transaction. The claim said the payment was unauthorized. Seriously, how is this able to happen? Paypal says they provide security for both buyers and sellers, yet they fail to follow through with this promise. How can this happen? If a suspicious IP logs onto a Paypal account, then the account should NOT be able to send funds until verified BY PHONE that it is, in fact, the owner of the account. I don't know if any of you know how EASY it is to fake an unauthorized transaction. All you have to do is get on a VPN, log in, send the payment, and say 'It wasn't my IP!!'. I'm disgusted that I'm now $40 in debt and now have to work for hours to earn back what I've lost. I'm sickened by the fact that the scammer/hacker/whatever can walk away without any punishment whatsoever and I'm left with a debt to pay. I want some answers, and I want them now. Please, Paypal, tell me: HOW ARE THESE SERVICES SECURE?
