I would like to echo the comments on here, having just sold something on ebay for the 1st time in a while. I listed something which eventually sold for 99p. Out of this, I took 46p and ebay and Paypal took 53p between them. This was due to a 6p scheduling fee and a 10p final value fee from ebay and a 37p fee from Paypal. The most galling thing was that Paypal take 3.4%+20p of the total money transferred, which includes your postal fees. I am selling a number of items on ebay, so spent £30 on packing material today, however at this rate, it looks like I am never going to recoup my costs. This has been a tough lesson and from now on I am going to give me stuff away, rather then line the pockets of this corporation. It will certainly make my life a **bleep** of a lot easier. BTW, I got a free insertion fee, if you add this, ebay and Paypal take 63% of the money I make on the item. I will be spreading the word at every opportunity and I encourage others to do the same. For my 46p, I took a photo of the item, listed it on ebay, dealt with questions as they arose, packaged the item, queued in the Post Office for 20 minutes, posted the item and updated feedback. A serious waste of my time and effort! A very unhappy ebay/Paypal user.
