Hi I have a question about PayPal & MoneyPak. I have used PayPal for over 5 years I think myself, and got a member in my family to recently sign up for PayPal service, anyways I have a general question about PayPal & the MoneyPak. After speaking to a lot of friends who do MicroTransactions on many MMORPG, people who know the internet, and play a lot of games often using PayPal, they told me about GreenDot ReloadPaks which I could purchase, and add funds to my PayPal account with no strings attatched, anyways I sugguested this to a member in my family, and they decided that as the Bank was closed Real Life a couple of times that they would use PayPal to make the deposit into their bank by Purchase of a Green Dot MoneyPak at the local store for the amount of money, and then making the deposit into PayPal, and transfering the funds to their Bank Account. Anyways Today they got an email from PayPal saying that adding Funds to their PayPal account using a Green Dot MoneyPak, and then withdrawing to their Bank Account is not allowed unless they are going to use the funds to make a purchase from a Business such as Ebay, Walmart, or another service that accepts PayPal. I called PayPal, and talked to someone at customer service, which I was told that withdrawing funds from a PayPal account to a Bank Account after loading them from a MoneyPak was not allowed, and they said this Policy was put into place by Green Dot/MoneyPak, and that if the Transfer to their Bank Account doesn't go through I would have to call Green Dot about it which I called them and asked, and they told me that they had no such rules, or spending limits with the Green Dot service that they simply take the money from the retailer I purchase the MoneyPak from, and make the payment to either GreenDot, or PayPal for example, and any rules or restrictions would come from PayPal itself and Green Dot told me to contact PayPal again. Now as I usually always read agreements before I make a Purchase I was never notified by the place where I purchased my MoneyPak that there are any strings attatched to how I can use the funds, other than this can be used with PayPal, and I read the Green Dot MoneyPak itself it has no restrictions, or Terms OF Service from GreenDot listed anywhere on it, and when the funds were deposit into PayPal by my family member on their account they were not asked to accept any type of Agreement from MoneyPak nor were they ever shown any type of agreement. I was also told by Phone that this policy and restrictions are listed on the PayPal, or GreenDot site somewhere, and I checked all around the internets on their website, even a call to their customer service, and on google, I did not see such a policy listed, and If anyone has any information on this could someone please let me know here, and possibly provide a Link to the policy, or where it says a MoneyPak can't be used for such. Honestly I do not see why such a Transaction would be dispute when the company profits $5 USD from it, but need more info please, and Thanks. If there is such a policy in place I would like to make a sugguestion that PayPal customer service post a notice on the Reload Pack link, or something which has the Policy Rules listed there, or a link to inform its customers. *Updated* I did a search on google, and finally found a bunch of complaints similar to the same email my family member got, and people asking questions about the same exact things, and below is a copy of the email. At PayPal we regularly screen activity in our system. A recent review of activity on your PayPal Account shows that you have been using the Green Dot MoneyPak to deposit cash and then withdraw it. Unfortunately, this activity is not acceptable use of the MoneyPak and we must request that you discontinue this activity. The Green Dot MoneyPak was designed for the purpose of depositing cash to your PayPal account for retail purchases. Continued use of the Green Dot MoneyPaks with PayPal for the purpose of cash withdrawals will lead to limitations on or closure of your PayPal Account. We apologize for any confusion regarding intended purposes of this new feature. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.
