I purchased a jacket from a guy in Germany. The jacket was the wrong size. I was required to get proof that the jacket wasn’t as stated within two day which I did. I went to a nearby tailor and had it measured. I submitted the proof to Paypal by faxing it. I won the case. Paypal sided with me. I was told to return the package. I was also told to get a tracking number which I did. I went to the post office and asked them to insure the package and to give me the tracking number. I shipped the package off ($57 to ship it back). The post office in Germany attempted to deliver the package 15 days ago, but the seller refuses to take delivery of the package. I called Paypal on Friday October 22, 2010, 8 am to let them know that the seller still hasn’t picked up the package. I asked them now what? They told me that if the seller doesn’t pick up the package they will have to side in his favor. Their reasoning behind this is: Apparently, the US post office gave me a custom number not a tracking number. I asked the Paypal representative how was I suppose to know the difference between a custom number or a tracking number. I don’t work for the post office. They told me (post office) that it was a tracking number. I had no reason to doubt them. According to Paypal representative the post office refuses to give tracking numbers to packages going international. They prefer to give custom numbers. I did everything paypal wanted only to be **bleep**ed over by them. They know this is a common problem with USPS and they don’t warn their customers of it. If they would have warned me about this possible problem, I would have avoided USPS. I am now out the cost of the jacket, and the cost to reship the jacket back. Is this fair? I don’t think so. Paypal had an obligation to warn their customers, especially if this problem occurred before with USPS. What kind of customer protection are they selling?
