In the past I have set up payment from a client to make monthly payments. I am now looking into setting up payments from clients (for a different site) and I want to handle these as quarterly payments starting on particular days (eg 1st of November, February, May or August). One way to handle such 'subscriptions' is to provide a 'free trial' period, so I think what may work (I have yet to try it out) will be for me to provide a free trial of XX days (calculating from today to 1st of month for next of Feb/May/Aug/Nov) and then start payments every 3 months. In your case you would perhaps ask the person donating for the amount they wish to donate and the dates of the first and last payments. Some web code would then be needed to produce a fresh page with the variables put in (so it may say something like "From [start date] to [end date] I want to donate $XX" and have a button which has the HTML code for giving Z 'free' days up to [start date] and then payment of $XX for a number of months, where the number is calculated to go up to the [end date]). By creating a fresh page you can take into account their dates and the amount, and the button will submit to PayPal the instructions to meet your needs. Obviously with a graphics program it should be possible to make the image for the button say something like "Set up my Donation" (and maybe add "to [organisation]"). You may be able to find someone to help you with the creation of a page (perhaps written with PHP) to give you what you want. I know I may have described it in a clumsy manner, but we seem to be looking to do similar things and the 'saved button' method is not flexible enough for my needs (or yours, by the look of it).
