We have been selling on our website and offering Pay Pal standard since around 2003. Last week we applied for Pay Pal Pro. I received the automated email that said the account was pending. Early on Saturday i received another email to say Pay Pal had received the automated fax that was sent during sign up. Later on Saturday my account status changed to restricted i think? Anyway, i received another email asking for :- A current valid photo ID (for example, driving licence, national identity card or passport) And also ONE document from the list below: • A utility bill that is not older than six months (mobile telephone bills are not acceptable) • A local council tax bill that is not older than six months • A bank, Building Society or Credit Union statement that is not older than six months and shows your current home address and/or business addresses listed on your PayPal account and recent transaction activity • A solicitor's letter confirming a recent house purchase or land registry confirmation of your address A current valid photo ID (for example, driving licence, national identity card or passport) And also ONE document from the list below: • A utility bill that is not older than six months (mobile telephone bills are not acceptable) • A local council tax bill that is not older than six months• A bank, Building Society or Credit Union statement that is not older than six months and shows your current home address and/or business addresses listed on your PayPal account and recent transaction activity • A solicitor's letter confirming a recent house purchase or land registry confirmation of your address These were attached to the account electronically straight away. On Monday morning i get another email :- "Our review of your Driver's License is complete and we have returned your account to regular standing." 10 minutes later i get another email :- "Thank you for your interest in Website Payments Pro. Unfortunately, we cannot approve your application at this time. In part, we based our decision on information provided by one or more of the following credit reference agencies:" I've spoken to one of the credit agencies listed and obtained a full report, a 30 minute telephone conversation could reveal no reason why this application was declined! (& the credit agency could not understand it either). When trawling Pay Pal's site for answers i get :- "Your internet merchant account application has been declined. Please contact Paypal Customer Service for more information." Yet this seems to contradict another piece of information :- "after careful consideration of your application for Website Payments Pro / Virtual Terminal, we are unable to approve it we are unfortunately unable to give you the exact reasons for the decline." The whole process seemed a total mess, i got messages saying i hadn't supplied documents that were requested....only they weren't!! (& saying i had 7 days to send them, which i did). So, is a call to customer services totally pointless?
