Unable to refund - This Transaction type not allow...

When I try to refund a transaction, I get this error message. "This Transaction type not allowed for Refund, please contact PayPal customer support for further details".   Can you please explain why this error happens OR what are the transaction types that are not allowed for a refund.   I could not find any documentation related to non-refundable transactions in PayPal. ...
