Before anyone here concludes that I am a troll seeking to stir the pot, let me assure you that I am not. But the fact that only two posters to this forum would respond to this entry, one in support of PayPal and another just providing minimal assistance' speaks volumes as to the user friendliness of this service, and that's what it is supposed to be, a service. When a business, and I am assuming that PayPal considers itself a business, forgets that their purpose is to provide a service, then what generally results is a tendency towards apathy on the part of the provider towards their clients. Reading the posts here regarding the hold policy, I do not regard them all as "rants", but I do know that once all criticism is labeled as rant, then it becomes easy to disregard. Then you can expect to develop a reputation as arrogant and unresponsive. Is this a business model to emulate? There is a national momentum, born of difficult economic times, that will not tolerate the "tail wagging the dog". Some of that is seeping into our retail culture. People will not be ignored, they demand to be heard. And if not they will seek change. I know that this sounds like "Tea Party" talk, but I can assure you that this mentality is spreading across socioeconomic lines. All businesses had better pay attention and the bigger you are, the more apt you are to draw the public's wrath. I may choose to utilize PayPal's service (since their relationship with ebay is a virtual monopoly) but I will not do it with great confidence in their ability to provide me with stellar customer service based on what I am reading on this forum. Thank You for making some very good points. The lack of customer service contradicts the principals of safety and privacy that is plastered all over every page. How safe is a virtual angry mob? There is also a vast cross section of angry folk in this forum. Sellers for feeling beatdown and having to beg for money that was paid to them. There are also buyers for having to wait for refunds longer than they should because they were duped into thinking that having a middleman is safer then just contacting the seller. Also buyers who get roped into loyalty scams through the other"check outs" and having an ongoing charge to a credit card, or thinking that paypal is offering a coupon or rebate when they are not, so they loose 5 bucks here and 10 bucks there to an unrelated company. Then these advisors call paypal customers ranting trolls and they seem to rep for the company, and they really have no tact. Bully I think is what it is called, yes a playground bully. Oooops I better stop or I might be called a troll again.
