RedRock, You are correct in most "Personal" payments, there are no fees associated with sending the money.  However; if you choose to send money to someone using a credit card, there will be credit card processing fees that need to be paid.  When sending them as a personal payment, the sender can choose to pay for the fees themselves or choose to have the receiver pay the fees. lxndrtg, All the transaction you are describing are happening electronically.  When the request is made to withdraw the money from your bank account it seems instantaneous because the bank considers the transaction complete on their side after they process our request.  On our side it still takes the 3-5 business days to receive the funds.  This process is exactly the same when done the opposite direction.  Even though it shows complete on our side it has not been received by your bank yet. This process is the exact same process that is done nationwide when funds are transferred between financial institutions.  It is not a process PayPal controls, nor do we have the ability to speed it up. LilSkittles, krishnaraj has described a couple of ways in which you would not have seen the refund yet, but based on your description of the situation I believe I can clarify this further. When a payment is made using the Instant Payment process, PayPal automatically pays the seller on your behalf while we wait for the funds to be received from your bank account to be provided to us.  If the refund is provided before the funds have cleared into the PayPal system, we will place a hold on the amount within your PayPal balance until the funds clear from your bank and into the PayPal system. After the funds have cleared into the PayPal system they will be made available in your PayPal balance. high5326, I'm sorry you are seeing the posting in your account as a fee. PayPal does not assess fees for the customers sending funds unless they choose to accept the fees in personal payments. If you are seeing $39.95 coming from your bank account, this is either a different payment or there were funds in your account and we only took the $39.95 from your bank and used the other funds available in your PayPal balance. sparker99, I know it is an inconvenience when you only have the one account to use, but we don't currently have a way for two different PayPal accounts to be verified using the same bank account. This is done as a security measure to make sure someone else is unable to use your account when it is already in use on your account.  I know that it does create a difficulty for people like yourself who share an account. ohara, Glad I get an opportunity to assist you with your question.   Based on my experience, any funds that were in the account that the person feels they have lost have most often been used when the individual made a payment to a merchant which used the remainder of the PayPal balance. Did you make any payments after your eBay fees were paid?  If so, the funds in the account were most likely used while the funding source was charged only what was necessary to complete the payment. kaptainkarl2, I know how annoying it is not to receive the item you are expecting.  I had this same thing happen to me before I became an employee of PayPal.  Since I have been here, I have learned the reason for the majority of these mis-shipments. When a payment is made from a site where a person may have a profile or entered in their shipping information in the past, that site will provide that shipping address to PayPal to be combined with the payment. For example, on eBay a person's profile has both a contact address and a shipping address.  If the contact address is updated but the shipping address is not, the shipping address for your eBay items may still be inaccurate. Please double check the shipping addresses for any sites you may be purchasing from to make sure the item is shipped to the correct address.  If this is not the case, please contact PayPal directly and we will be more than happy to help diagnose why this may be happening. tsc1990, Welcome to the PayPal Community Forums.  I am also having this same dilemma with my brother.  He is also currently deployed in Iraq.  Based on my experience trying to provide gifts to loved ones overseas and as a PayPal representative, I would recommend waiting until he is home to use the PayPal service for his gifts. The PX does not accept PayPal and the distance from the information associated with the PayPal account may create security concerns while he is attempting to access the account from so far away. One of the things we have done for my brother is provide a variety of things we know to be his favorites and ship them to him directly so he does not have to purchase them at the PX.  Along with this we are able to provide a variety of pictures, cards, and other personal items.  Luckily enough I have been able to receive a response back from my brother by email.  He loved the gifts and especially the wrapped ones we sent him for his birthday. Hello everyone!, The PayPal App is difficult to find in the Android market.  From my experience,  when looking in the Android Market the apps are not organized as well as they could be. Every time I have needed to find the app, I have used the search function and found it available for download.   Click on the magnifying glass when in the market and type in PayPal. Click the magnifying glass again to search. When the App comes up...download as you normally download apps. I'm sorry you that the item was shipped to an old address.  As the purchase site, eBay.com asks for a shipping address to supply to their merchants from which you purchase the items.  As a payment processor, PayPal will only supply the shipping address if the merchant site does not supply the address themselves.  Please update the shipping address on eBay to make sure they all get shipped properly from here on. Although the primary funding source for most accounts will be the bank account listed, a person can change the funding source for each payment by clicking on the "Change" or "more funding options" link on the payment confirmation page. When you click on this link, it will allow you to change to another available funding source listed on your account. kimakaze, Welcome to the PayPal Community!   I am glad I get a chance to assist you with your first question! The information you described is partially accurate.  Those types of payments are free as long as you are sending them as a "Personal" payment to friends and family.  When you are sending money, after putting in the email address and the name, it gives you 2 tabs to choose from.  Those tabs read "Purchase" and "Personal". By changing to the "Personal" tab and then choosing a reason for the payment, the receiver will not be assessed a fee for receiving the payment you sent. philjp, I am glad I am able to help you out with this situation.  With the situation you described, PayPal is designed to work exactly in that manner.    When a payment is made through your account we make the payment using the funds in this order.  Balance Instant Transfer from your bank account PayPal Credit Debit card Credit card eCheck  The only time a payment will bypass the balance is when you are making a payment using the eCheck process or making the payment using a PayPal Credit product. Hello everyone! I can see that you are all interested in reoccurring payments from your account to another account! In order to process reoccurring payments, the recipient of the payments would need to have a premier or business account and set up a subscription button to automatically have payments made in regular intervals. brianpetras, Welcome to the PayPal Community Forums!  From my experience, I have been able to determine that the SmartConnect accounts are not always accepted by every merchant.  For example, not every place you shop will accept Discover cards. The PayPal credit products are just like any other card.  Merchants have the ability to choose not to accept certain types of cards.  When this happens, the system will just not allow you to choose that as the funding source for that merchant. As long as there are no other issues or concerns happening on your account, this is most likely the reason the SmartConnect was unable to be used. We can appreciate the frustration you have with this situation.  If you are concerned that future billings will be made, please cancel the billing agreement you have with that merchant. You can cancel a billing agreement at any time. Here’s how: Log in to your PayPal account. Click “Profile.” Click “My preapproved payments” under Financial Information. Click "Close Account" under Account Information. Click "Continue." Let us know why you want to close your account. Click "Continue," then click "Close Account."
