I sold an iPhone 11pro via Facebook Market for £400 the buyer was very quick to make payments to Paypal. They then advised me that it was Gift for a Disabled Niece and that I should post it to a different address and name as it was a surprise Birthday Gift. The funds were reflecting on my Paypal as pending, and the buyer reassured me that, once i had a Royal Mail Tracking number, he would inform Paypal to releases the funds. I posted the Parcel the next Day costing me £12 including packaging, and I immediately send the tracking number via Paypal and Facebook marketplace, this buyer never spoke to me again, he ignored all my messages. Once the scammer received the iPhone 11 pro 64GB, he immediately opened a case and claimed that I was a scam and he didn't receive the items I send the phone to the wrong address. I was very shocked and upset, at how I could get scammed via Paypal, I thought using PayPal is the safest way to receive money from buyers. I submitted all my evidence via the Resolution Centre and including all documentation, Post office Tracking no, and I also reported this matter to Action Fraud Police with a crime reference No. Paypal went against me and refunded this Scammer, I lost £412, and now am in arrears on my account by £23. The scammer has a Brand new iPhone 11 pro 64GB free and all his money back. I am still very upset and shocked, I have police tracking the phone, and hopefully, the scammers can be arrested. Am shocked and very disappointed with Paypal ignored all my evidence and favour these scammers. sellers are aware this is the next level of scamming .. never post an item unless it's the same address as on Paypal.
