I just received this scam message:
Hello [Real Name], We like to keep things safer and more secure, including your account. We’ve temporarily blocked your debit card. We are sorry for any problems this may cause. We weren’t able to reach you at the phone number listed on your PayPal account. Please call the PayPal Debit Card Security Team at <removed> in the United States, or if you are in Canada <number removed> to verify your recent transactions. You’ll need your Debit Card number when you call. We value your business and appreciate your attention to this matter. Thanks, PayPal © 2010 PayPal Inc. All rights reserved. The real name and card number ending were correct. CORRECT. Who was reading Paypal's files yesterday?
But here is the kicker: When you read the message header, you see this:
Return-path: Envelope-to: Delivery-date: Sat, 14 May 2011 10:22:11 -0600 Received: from Sat, 14 May 2011 10:22:11 -0600 doesn't look much like "Paypal.com" ( I had to mangle the email address a little or Paypal wouldn't let me post this message. And I disguised my own email address, and made it "nobody".)
