On March 21, 2021, I paid a company via PayPal for a winch. After not getting a receipt for my purchase within 15 minutes I asked PayPal to stop the transaction as I had found a number of PayPal customers complaining about not receiving orders from this Chinese company that was using a fake U.S. address and fraudulent contact information. With all the complaints that had been filed I was surprised that the Company still had the ability to get immediately paid by PayPal. The Resolution Center said the $99 transaction was authorized by me and thus was not covered by Fraud Protection. They closed my investigation and said that if I wanted the documents used to make the decision to reply to the email. I replied and three days later they said my request needed to be in writing and mailed to an address. It is now 8 April and it is my guess that since no one at PayPal will contact me that I have lost $99. I am not sure where to file my international theft complaint but as a former Peace Officer and Commander I suppose I will find out and file a complaint. In the meantime PayPal allows this company to operate an account and apparently keep the ill gotten gain. I have loved my PayPal 6 months no interest opportunities but this interaction causes me to consider alternatives which are currently few. However, given the chance I will leave PayPal/Venmo/and whatever else they become ASAP.
