Earlier today, I made a large ($835) purchase online. The merchant didn't offer paypal as a payment option, so I thought, "Hey! I can use my paypal debit card for purchase protection, just in case!" (I like NEVER used that card, though I use PP to pay for things all the time. I have not RECEIVED money through PP in years, though. JUST s(p)ent). Minutes later, PayPal informs me my account is restricted. "Okay," thinks I, "that's fair. I made a large purchase in an uncommon way that doesn't hold to pattern." I upload my drivers license. I upload a credit card statement. I re-verify both the bank and credit card attached to the account. Then it hits me: that large purchase... is? is not? going to go through. I'd better ask. I hit up customer support through their message interface. ...where I am informed that your account is restricted because you have two accounts. "That's news to ME. Okay, what's the other?" "A gmail account." "Can you be more specific?" "No." "Okay, if you're that convinced it's my account, then I have the right to close it. Do so." "No." At this very moment, I have a couple thousand dollars of crypto I PURCHASED with a BANK TRANSFER from MY BANK, that I'm being denied the ability to touch or withdraw. I don't know WTF gmail account the girl was on about, and, despite the fact they feel they can use it to block me from my money - not received money, mind. Money I SPENT with THEM - they refuse to tell me what the account is. I've jumped through every one of their verification hoops within MINUTES of being asked, and I'm now being informed that if I cannot log into a gmail account whose only existence is their word on it, I'm SOL regarding MY OWN money!? How is this different from getting mugged? I DO need purchase protection. On the crypto I bought FROM PAYPAL! What do I DO here!? @jj
