Something similar happened to me back in late June 2020. I was scammed by a "seller" on Facebook Marketplace. Thought she would ship an Apple watch to me. Of course it never came and I dealt with her for over two months. Filed a dispute and was denied. Apparently scammers have found a loophole on the messaging app for Facebook. The seller will message you through their FB seller messenger account that is connected to their personal account but different in a way. While you are negotiating through seller messenger conversation she closed the chat down. A few minutes later she contacted me through her personal Facebook messenger apologizes and says something is up with her phone. I send her the money through Facebook pay and it all goes through.unbeknownst to me sending it through her personal account it looks like your are sending her money like she is a trusted friend and thats how PayPal views it. PayPal has no accountability and you can't open a new claim because they "investigated" it and in their opinion found nothing wrong. I am so **bleep** at "seller", Facebook pay and PayPal for simply washing their hands of it and using a pandemic as an excuse not to talk to their trusting customers. Shame on you PayPal for not giving one ounce of concern for loyal customers that trust you to protect their transactions. Using Covid to not provide adequate customer service is a new low in an already messed year. Fix the loopholes. Facebook and PayPal have an obligation to protect their customers.
