Hi. I have seen a post on the same issue here, but I could not reply to the post because it's already in the archive, so I'm opening a new thread hoping to shed light on this and possibly find a resolution. I recently found out that my Paypal was billed by Scribd for a preapproved payment on their premium account. I never authorized this payment and have never used Paypal on any of my online purchases in years. I have reported this problem with Scribd, but all they did was cancel the subscription that I did not make in the first place. As for the charges, I was told to file a dispute with Paypal. I did as advised only to be rejected again. Paypal closed the dispute with this message: Case Closed: Transaction not covered Thank you for reporting this case. After reviewing your case, we found that this transaction was not unauthorized and hence couldn't be covered under PayPal Purchase Protection. Case details Dispute reason: Unauthorized access Case Status: Closed Date reported: 31 Oct 2020 No explanation whatsoever as to how they reviewed the case. I didn't even have the opportunity to dispute the result of the disputed case, which is why I'm asking the community if you've had the same issue before. I could have let the $9 slide, but I'm more concerned about how this scheme is perpetuated because no one seems to care whether it is really happening or not. My Scribd account was made back when I was still in college (probably more than a decade ago). I even used a pseudonym when I signed up. The email address in the subscription was an odesk.com email that I used to connect to Paypal for my payments. Odesk no longer exist! I really don't understand how this could have possibly happened and Paypal is not giving any explanation so I hope someone out here can help. Thank you.
