I sold a computer (2012 MacBook Pro 15in) and the buyer requested a return saying the item heats up so seeing as how the computer is 8 years old I thought "makes sense, I'll give him the return." However upon receiving the item, it's a different MacBook Pro entirely! This one is completely destroyed, dents everywhere, the bottom plate doesn't even fit anymore, screws misaligned, and scratched all over. On top of that the internal component are all different and the battery was clearly removed and tampered with. So I am wondering what should my next steps be and what outcome should I expect? I intend to call PayPal and discuss this with them and to dispute the dispute. Should I expect to not have to pay the refund or will PayPal side with the buyer even though this is a clear scam? I have photos of the computer I sent out and of what I received.
