Hi, I am unable to access my account since the introduction of the new verification code requirement. I have now spent 10 hours (10 calls) to the Account Access team who have offered assorted actions but none have proved successful. I can enter my ID and Password and am provided with a 4 digit Verification Code but that is where the problem starts. Initially I was offered the option of a text message or a call back to enter the code as I do with my private online bank. I do not have a text compatible device so opted for Call Me having confirmed that PayPal have my correct phone number. Only certain numbers show up but the full number has been validated during subsequent calls to the Access team. I do not have a mobile so my registered number is a landline. No Call Back phone call is received so I can't enter the code. This process has been carried out multiple times over the last month or so. As a result of several calls to the Access team I have ascertained that the call back only works on mobile numbers. As a consequence they undertook to send instructions to my email address to install some special app. but these instructions went into messages within my PayPal account (rather than appearing in my regular email feed) since my PayPal account ID uses my email address. This was overcome by providing a different email address. The instructions required me to download and install a Symantec VIP Address app. BUT part way down the instructions it requires me to access my PayPal account to activate the process!! I have been promised multiple calls back from Team Supervisors etc but these never materialise despite specific confirmation of time of call etc. I am at my wits end as to how to make the team (who politely respond to my requests on 08003587911) come up with a solution. PayPal security is indeed very good. Too good. As a final potentially important piece of information underpinning my difficulty is that by chance I changed my Mac desktop at the very same time that verification codes were introduced. PayPal are presumably picking up that I am trying to access my account from a previously unseen MAC address. My original MAC is no longer available but that is another story. So PayPal have successfully locked me out of my account. PayPal advise that my account is safe with a balance of zero £ (it is linked to an external bank account) but the standard process has run out of scripted answers. I need to access my account to obtain Invoices for tax purposes. During the process PayPal also required me to answer a number of questions to validate my identity, a process which I was very reluctant to participate in since it is akin to Phising for data. They requested in a roundabout way the identity of family members and addresses!! I did participate since the basis of the questions is available through multiple sources in the public domain (e.g. Electoral Roll) so in one sense was inappropriate for validating my identity, but had it been any more specific I would of course refused to participate. Who holds this company to account? I'm out of ideas. There must be someway of having a dialogue with somebody to resolve the matter. NB. I have a long standing linked eBay account that I can still access without difficulty despite the MAC address change. HELP please.
