Context: I have a love / hate relationship with PayPal. I love what PayPal does. I hate its non-existent customer service. Specific case in point. I helped a client register for the PayPal Giving Fund about 6 weeks ago. I received a check today for this client from the PayPal Giving Fund for $51,548.73 . . . roughly $51,545 more than I expected. Seriously. When something is too good to be true, it's nearly always too good to be true. Right? My fraud/scam alarms are all screaming at me. I can't find reports that would give me some clue as to the legitimacy of this check or data as to how this check was calculated. There's absolutely no way to call someone at PayPal to get customer service, something that PayPal apparently deems a waste of time and money . . . because of its market share. Anyway, frustration with PayPal aside, is there anyone out there who can confirm that my fraud/scam alarms should be heeded ... or ... can suggest a way I can get data on the amount of this "grant." Thanks!! Rob <removed>, CPA
