Hi, I ordered and received a Coaster Storage Trundle Bed. The cost of the bed is $506.15. The bed has the trundle and then three storage drawers under the trundle; it shipped in three separate boxes which the deliverer placed inside of our home and asked us to sign for them. It took my wife and I 4 1/2 hours to assemble. Upon assembling, we found the drawer cases to be cracked, the rails on the bottom of the drawers cracked and veneer on the front rail of the bed that had cracked off and had been glued back on. Worst of all of the issues, the drawers do not fit on to the glides in the bottom of the trundle unit so the unit has 3 large openings in which there are no drawers. We immediately contacted the retailer and were told that they couldn't do anything about it until the manufacturer tells them what to do. They then came back with an RGA number and told us we would have to ship it back at our expense at approx. $270. This was not a reasonable resolution so at that point, I disputed the charge through Paypal. After that the retailer basically said it was out of their hands since I had disputed the charge; they suggested I should contact the manufacturer myself. I contacted the manufacturer and they have told me that they never heard from the retailer and that it was up to the retailer to take the bed back under the one year warranty. It has been two months now and Paypal continues to show the dispute as in research mode. What is my recourse and what are my next steps? Do I escalate this to a claim and if so, how do I do this? I need to get this trundle bed out of our home as in its current condition, it is not usable.
