Hello, I need some help/advice, as I have fallen victim to a scam. Purchased an eBay item, an immediate PayPal refund was initiated (which made me suspicious straight away). eBay suspended seller’s (scammer’s) account after ‘unauthorised activity’. Tried a refund through eBay but they refused. Usually can spot these dodgy sellers as they have zero feedback, but this one had nearer 50, so I didn't think it too strange! Price was good but not unbelievably good. 1st refund failed. 2nd refund failed. 3rd refund pending…notice a pattern? Opened a PayPal case, but my claim for a refund was refused, despite false tracking information showing that no item has been dispatched (it’s for a postal service in a different country too!). Reason given was because of the refund in progress, but despite me explaining that this is stuck in a loop of a constantly failing refund, they don't seem to be interested. Any ideas on where to go next? It’s quite a large sum of money, and I thought I would be covered by eBay/PayPal, but it appears that I’m stuck in a pending refund loop, which fails every time! PayPal don’t seem to be interested, neither do eBay, but it’s a lot of money for me to say goodbye to! I presume the scammer just immediately withdrew the money from their PayPal/bank account, so now they're attempting to refund from an account with no money in, hence it failing each time. My only advice from PayPal is to phone when a refund fails, but when I have no more than 5-10 minutes before the next is initiated, it leaves me very little time to act.
