@ChrisCooling great research! So the main takeaway for me is maybe whoever this is hasn't and/or doesn't intend to do anything more nefarious (and/or _maybe_ pp has the proper safeguards in place to prevent it) than try to dupe me into paying the invoice. But I can't remove or otherwise dispute the invoice, online or mobile app. And that, to me after 15+ years as a customer, has me questioning why I ever gave this firm my financial credentials. Of course the novelty of Ebay used to be the answer. Not sure if that will hold up!

Exactly. So where are the paypal support statements calling these genuine requests for donations? Sorry for being lazy. But it still seems to me they've allowed an imposter to penetrate their defenses. And as far as definitions of underhanded spam go, if this politicized org was officially permitted by pp to solicit, it seems far, FAR below standard to pose these requests as 'invoices' instead of simply sending a request as a message, etc.

Yes, the fact that it's in our accounts is the most troubling- beyond phishing, paypal you have been hacked or you're promoting a very (recently) politicized organization.

I got the exact same 'invoice' - I think i have made charitable contributions in the past via paypal *to other causes* but NOT to anything covid-related. I dont recognize this one and at best it looks like PP may be condoning 'cold call' donation requests or more likely somehow they have allowed a scam like this to penetrate their usually high standards of account security and screening...frightening. Will be looking into further.
