Hello all, I mistakenly ordered an item that was of the wrong specification. I contacted the ebay seller to cancel the order and also set up a return claim via ebay, but they became aggressive/threatening and ultimately cancelled the return on their end. They cited that it was completely my fault for making such a mistake and that they had would ultimately be losing money on the postage insurance that they paid for. They also mentioned that they always have to pay return shipping, which is "not fair to them". I was very confused because 1) I paid the initial shipping that is being used to send the item my way (listing was buyer pays shipping) and 2) when I opened the return I was charged the shipping. I also even offered to reimburse the seller 25-50% of the insurance paid, pending verification with postage receipt. The seller became increasingly aggressive and is now ignoring me. I acknowledge that I have made a mistake and I am trying my best to fix it, but the seller is having none of it -- despite their store policy stating a there is a 30-day return period (no restrictions). I have since opened a claim via PayPal to try to mediate again with the seller, but they have yet to reply. I do not feel comfortable taking delivery of the item to then return it because I believe the seller is going to try something to refute everything. -- keeping the returned item and my money. I did a bit of research and saw that within USPS there is a "package intercept" option which will effectively intercept the package enroute and send it back to the seller. My thought it to request my package be intercepted and delivered back to the seller (before it even gets to me). I will also pay for the extra postage charges and insurance to placate the seller. Since I will not receive the item and am within the return period, I should be able to get my refund. Is this a viable plan? This is my first time ever going through something like this, so I would appreciate advice. Thank you
