I recently had an email from Paypal informing me that my account has been closed permanently, joining what appears to be a rather large number of people who have unfairly and unjustly had their accounts closed. I have contacted Paypal and they refuse to provide any real, useful information and just state its their final decision and they will not help you at all. I am not looking for answers as to why my account has been closed, I can move past that, but my issue is twofold. I have money being held for 180 days in the account, which I cannot access, and I also had a dispute ongoing for an item I returned and never got a refund, which Paypal has automatically closed due to my account being closed, regardless of the fact I provided all the evidence to prove I returned it and it is almost £200. Part of this transaction was paid through Paypal balance, so I cannot go to my bank to resolve it. My question for people who have had a similar experience or are knowledgeable about this topic is whether the Financial Ombudsmen could help me with the following: Get my money which is on hold to be released to me sooner than 180 days, get Paypal to honor the buyer protection scheme for the remaining case I had and award me my money back, and finally reopen my account, because as I stated, there is no legitimate reason for the account to be closed, I had hundreds if not thousands of transactions with very very few issues (could count on one hand), none of which were a significant amount. Thank you in advanced.
