This is frustrating. I can't get anywhere close to solving this issue. Why? Because it's not really my account. However, it's an account created by someone using my wife's information. We expect a duplicitous sibling may have opened a fraudulent account using my wife's known information. For example, they used her yahoo email account and a (now disconnected) landline phone number. Then, a couple days ago my wife receives a email saying her cell phone number was added to the account, and the number used WAS her actual cell number. Now, my wife has never opened a PayPal account so this is all curious as to why someone has chosen to do this. Here are the steps I have taken to investigate the account. I go to the PayPal login screen and enter her email address then I select that I am having trouble logging in, because we don't actually know the password created. So, I request a pin to her email account to resolve the issue. The pin gets sent, I enter it in, then PayPal wants another layer of security resolved before I can get into this fraudulent account. If I choose for it to send me a text to the phone, that won't work because the phone number used is our old disconnected landline. The only other option is to answer 2 security questions, Name of First Pet and Father's middle name. My wife's answers to those question don't match the answers used to create the account. So now we are stuck. We can't resolve the issue with PayPal because there is no way to reach PayPal through this account to resolve it, BECAUSE WE CAN"T LOG INTO THE ACCOUNT! So, I have tried resolving it by trying to reach PayPal's help via my account, which fails because they can only talk about my account. I can't get through to a live person no matter how hard I try. I have hit a brick wall here. Any suggestions on how to finally resolve this mystery account?
