I know the Ebay seller scam has been around for quite a while. I and many others have recently been victim to it. The seller will provide a tracking number, you track it on its merry way and on the delivery date it says “delivered in or at mailbox, front porch, wherever. Nowhere does it specify a direct address, yours for example. Check out your past tracking numbers if you still have them, Ebay keeps them for a while. Due to this flaw, as long as the package stated “delivered”, you are left hanging if no package was actually “physically” delivered to your address. All you are left with is a cyber trail. This lack of specifics allows the scammer to provide you with a bogus shipping number. The number you are given is in fact valid, but most times is sent elsewhere, many times to your zip code or even to another state. When the tracking system marks it delivered, you are basically up the creek. The package is most likely mislabeled and misaddressed. Also probably contains an item that didn’t cost the seller much to send. The recipient gets the package at his address, sees its not something he/she ordered and returns it. But......in Ebay/PayPal’s view it has been delivered. The only possible option may be package intercept or hold at the PO which will cost more. But if it’s junk, take a pic of the label and content and notify Ebay.
