Yesterday I was unable to login to my PayPal account from my PC using Chrome browser but I could login from my phone using the app. Today, after spending many hours trying to find out why, I have discovered that PayPal have changed the way 2-stage verification works. Instead of sending a One Time Password (OTP) to my phone, I now have to use an Authenticator app. Unfortunately it is not possible to turn 2-stage verification on or off using the phone app, it can only be done when logged in via a browser. But I couldn't log in because 2-stage verification wasn't working. Talk about Catch 22! So I had to speak to someone at PayPal who turned 2-stage verification off on my account which then allowed me login using a browser just requiring my username and password. I was then able to set-up 2-stage verification again but this time using an Authenticator app (the only option possible) and everything is working fine again but why didn't PayPal tell me they were changing the way 2-stage verification was going to work? Grrr!
