HORRIBLE IDEA TO HOLD FUNDS FOR 21 DAYS!!!

Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them!  Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds, not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

I agree.  It's very difficult for me too. Currently looking for better companies to do auctions with.

Been on eBay for over 10 years, my lowest DSR is 4.83 due to 1 BS "item not as describe", even though I've sold a hundred with the same description. I ship immediately, have a 100% rating, anyone who has asked for a refund has received it, as stated in my descriptions. Now, after all this time and a 100% selling record for years, I have to wait for money.  I accept credit cards at my website and never have to wait to get funded.  I use this money to buy more product but now this is putting a financial burden on my business, especially when we are talking thousands of dollars in business.  If I had known Paypal was going to hold funds, I never would have used it.  The simple answer is "don't use it then" or "don't sell on eBay then". It is the moral and ethical issue as well as the money.  Paypal takes no responsibility and has no vested interest in my business because they don't pay the bills, but they hold the money for me to pay the bills.  This is socialism and fascism at it's finest.  They have assumed I can not be responsible to ship my items and be an honest seller, so they are doing it for me, keeping me above board, keeping me from my lawful commerce.  Well, I don't need them to keep me honest and above board and never have.  There are plenty of other options and I only hope they send me another survey asking if I would recommend them.  **bleep** NO. It  would be nice if you knew the meaning of words that you use BEFORE you use them.

Something can be socialist OR fascist, not both - they are opposites.

Socialism?  No, this is the opposite of socialism.  This is capitalism.  A private company using it's capital muscle to make more money.

BIG INTEREST SCAM IN PROGRE$$ here!

What a poor joke of a company.

I'm sure there are laws being broken with this.

I have no trust in my "pal" after four years of giving them my business.

I am totally disgusted with the heavy handedness.

I will be giveing my "pal?" as much negative publicity as I can!

SELLERS BEWARE!

Do not ship anywhere that tracking and delivery confirmation isn't an option.

GOOD GUYS finish last (if @ all?) with these unscroupulous policies.

It's not retail, IT'S AN "AUCTION", look it up "pal".

Man, I miss the days of Yahoo Auctions.  They were free and easy to use.  Then they **bleep**ed up and tried to become "ebay".

We need a new online auction site with an easy pay option.  Why doesn't that **bleep** that created facebook come up with that?

I think this 21 day hold is ridulous.I've sent the item out and the buyer has received the item and playing with it-but doesn't want to leave feedback asked him to leave it and he doesn't want to be bothered. After this transaction, I'm done with eBay and paypal. What about the sellers rights?

OK, first before you go. Make sure that you leave the appropriate FEED BACK for the slacker. Make sure people kow that this person is difficult to deal with. Be honest and accirate.

Next, if you decide later to use EBAY,

EVERY ONE        EVERY ONE          EVERY ONE

I have a new tact on the HOLD SUBJECT. In the description part of the item, I include other options for payments, if you have them available.

EVEN IF YOU DON'T, GO AHEAD AND ENTER A STATMENT. THE PEOPLE VIEWING OUR SALES , ETC, ARE FAR MORE THAN THOSE WHO READ THESE POSTS. EXAMPLE: I HAD 28 VIEWS ON A GUITAR FOR SALE. EVERYONE ONE OF THEM SAW THE COMMENT ABOUT THE HOLD AND THE REQUEST TO BUST 'EM UP!

I am sorry to hear your story.  I have also been with Paypal for years and have been using eBay for years also.  I recently (the past 6 months) created a student account for my son.  After many many MANY transactions that went through well, I made two errors regarding the particular bank's to withdraw from - these were both within days.  I explained to Paypal at great length  - the first mistake was taken care of immediately (by a customer service rep who evidently wasn't aware of the fact he WASN't supposed to give me great service, and just cancelled the transaction so I could start over.)  (I was told later - by a supervisor who couldn't care less and did nothing for me - that the previous customer rep  would be 'talked to' and told that wasn't the way to handle it.)  Geee... okay.... he's in trouble for dealing with it quickly and effectly - unlike the supervisor who was totally useless on the second mistake.   I have since had the bank come back to bite me in the butt regarding this (2nd) NON- handled mistake and now I have ANOTHER bad transaction based on the fact no-one alerted me to the fact that the bank could come back - as long as 2 weeks later - and re-submit to pay the debt again.  If cancelled there would have been no 2 week later - bank activated - 3rd problem.

Well, now I'm in the doghouse.  No amount of calling and explaining (hours of talking on the phone in the past month) will get my son's student account freed up to transfer monies immediately again.  Im told:  try it again in 4 hours - 24 hours - it's a single one at a time transfer decision, it COULD go through well next time.  Well, no, it doesn't.  Ive tried twice now, with 4 days inbetween the two attempts, and  every transfer to him is thrown over to be an E-check which takes days to clear and NOW is "pending" in Paypal - not available still - after nearly a week - while my bank account shows full payment with both in hard postings.  Paypal won't release the paid for monies to my son...it's on HOLD with them. . WHAT???????????????  Who said they can do this?  They chose to "punish us" and now that they have 26.00 of ours they choose not to give it to my son.  Isn't this called CRIMINAL ACTIVITY??????????????????????????????????????????????????? I should call the better business bureau!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
