The Community Chat is now open and unlocked! Our moderator staff will be available for the next hour to answer your questions about PayPal, get to know you, or just have idle conversation. We do ask that posts follow the PayPal Community Help Forum Policy and the Forum Decorum Guidelines.
Once the session is over, this thread will be locked again, but you will be able to view the content in the forums. This chat will be a regular feature every Wednesday from 4-5 PM CDT, so if you missed us this week, please feel free to stop by in the future!
To start out today, tell us about one of your favorite purchases, or a major purchase, you made with PayPal. Mine is a yearly order I place with a merchant for my hobby. I collect, paint, and customize the miniatures for this particular game that I used to play in junior high - I stopped actively playing shortly after obtaining a driver's license.

So any word on unauthorized transactions and payments to Microsoft, most of which totally $49.99? Seems like an ever growing security problem to me.

l3ongwat3r,
Welcome to the chat! I've seen you around the forums, but I know it's your first time here - glad you could make it.
In regards to the unauthorized payments to Microsoft, I can assure you that PayPal has not and never has been hacked. Most compromised accounts are a result of phishing emails, viruses, or keyloggers, and are not the result of PayPal itself being compromised.
In other words, PayPal is a great lock in and of itself - you can't break down the door. Unfortunately, too many people use the same key for PayPal that they use on dozens of other sites, many of which simply aren't secure. Fraudsters monitor those sites and then use the gathered information to see if they can access your PayPal account. In some instances, that leads to a compromised account.
With PayPal, all of our members have 100% protection against unauthorized activity - so if it does make it through, we've got you covered.
Adrian

Chat time again?! It's like we just had one...about a week ago I guess.
I haven't bought too many great things using PayPal, probably the closest was something like this except in red, white, and blue. And yes, it was around the Fourth of July. 🙂

Andy - I want some of those too! Although I regret that I bought my oldest son a set of those oblong hematite magnets. I don't think I'll ever get that little clink out of my head.

Misty- They are kinda amusing, especially when you drop them all together and they reform like the T-1000. But they're dangerous too. Don't get me started on the time I almost cut the circulation off to my finger with them...

Hi everyone!
My favorite purchase might actually be the time that I bought a wholesale lot of a bunch of the same pair of socks.
No really guys, hear me out. This is genius! I didn't want boring white athletic socks. I wanted pretty but comfy socks that would go with most of my clothes. I bought a wholesale lot of 18 pair... which means that losing one sock brings me down to 17 pair, and losing another sock STILL LEAVES ME AT 17 PAIR!
This was a long time ago, and the sock gnomes have whittled my total down to about 9 pair. I'm still ahead of the game, in my opinion.
