Payments in USD not added to USD balance in wallet

I am based in the UK, but have started receiving payments in USD. I have added USD as a currency in my wallet, but payments received in USD still seem to get converted to GBP and added to my primary currency, why is this? When adding a currency to your wallet it states: 'When you add a currency, any payments you receive in that currency will be credited to that balance.'

Go click on settings in your paypal account (cog icon next to log out) > click on seller tools in the white band below the icons in the blue band > scroll down to getting paid > click on payment receiving preferences > then check you have the dot in this option...........

Accept all payments without converting the currency, either adding to an existing balance or creating a new holding currency where needed.
