If I have a PayPal Cash Balance, how do I leave that untouched and pay with a credit card?

I would like to leave my PayPal cash balance as cash, and use my credit cards for automatic bill payments. How do I override triggering the cash balance as the first way to pay? It's so frustrating! I choose a credit card and then find out that the cash balance was used... how do I turn that function off? Thanks so much!

If you have the option to select a funding source then you can do so here...
Click on the profile tab (icon next to log out) > Click on payments third option along on the thick blue band top of page > second down click on update next to your preferred way to pay and put a dot in one of the options listed.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Thank you so very much for your response, however it didn't work... even though I choose credit card as the preferred way to pay, PayPal will still take the Cash Balance first!
