can friends send me money they owe me to my paypal account? Is there a fee for doing so? I can then transfer it to my bank account correct? thanks

As you haven't said which country you are in or which account type you have, then difficult to advise.
It happens. Hit the "Login to Ask the community" button to create a question for the PayPal community.
