Why was my payment not in my account balance?

I received payment notification via email but went to set up my PayPal account and did not have the money in my account balance. Is there a reason why this money was not reflecting?

Welcome to the community forum and thanks for posting.
If you've been notified that you’ve received a payment, but you don’t see it in your PayPal account, there are a number of possibilities. Never send the product before you have confirmed that the payment has been received by logging into your PayPal account and checking the transaction. If you believe the payment notification is suspicious, stop shipment and forward the email to us at spoof@paypal.com so that we can investigate the matter further.
