Welcome! Thanks for joining PayPal's Community Forum. I can certainly understand why you would want to make sure the receipt you've received is legitimate. Here are articles on How to spot phishing emails and sites as well as Common scams and how to spot them.
Also, if someone sent you money, you should be able to see the transaction in your PayPal Activity. There's a possibility it may be on hold or pending, but you should still see it in your Activity as long as the email address the payment was sent to on PayPal is confirmed.
