Transfer money option not available in my account under wallet with confirmed U.S. bank

I have not used PayPal since earlier this year. Although the interface has change I have had no problem for a decade or so transferring money from a bank account into my PayPal account. I now notice that I have no "transfer money" option in my wallet even though I have multiple "confirmed" bank accounts and credit card accounts. I attempted to relink an account but get a message that it is already a confirmed account. I am in the U.S. and so is the bank. All the previous posts and answers regarding a similar problem are either unsolved or not pertinent. Any help in solving this is greatly appreciated.

Have you set up a balance account to hold a balance and allowing the transfer of funds?

Normally a balance account is obtained after you have received your first payment from a buyer and chosen to hold a balance OR have the funds auto withdrawn to a bank account.

Thanks kernowlass for your response. I do not have any money or balance in PayPal. My last withdrawal or transaction was earlier this year, transferred from one person's PayPal account to mine then I deposited into my bank. My goal is to have a "balance" in PayPal so I can pay online using merchants who take PayPal. So, if I do not have a balance how do I get one?

I did attempt successfully to purchase using a PayPal merchant but it seems to take many days for the transaction to clear the bank. The old method I could request funds from my bank and it would go into PayPal account which would take a few days but once the money was in PayPal account, purchasing from merchants was quicker. So each time I make a transaction online now my purchases are delayed considerably. Hope that makes sense.

If your payments are not instant then sounds as if you are sending echeques............................

Transfers from bank accounts are never instant as Paypal use electronic transfers ie echeques (cheaper but slower).

Funds normally leave your bank account from a few hours > few days later but they take several working days to clear through to the seller/Paypal as they go via ACH in batches.

Its called instant because normally Paypal credit the seller upfront and then Paypal take the wait for the funds to transfer, this is so you get your item without delay.

However there are times however when its you and the seller / recipient that take the wait for the echeque to clear and here are some of the reasons...

1. Back up card has expired or needs updating OR you have not added one.
2. You have had a recent negative balance or failed bank transfer (so paypal are not going to credit the seller in advance in case it happens again).
3. For some high cost riskier payments / transactions.
4. Friends / family payments *funded from a bank account* as this option is free then its you that takes the wait this time.
5. Clearing a negative balance.
