Transaction issue? Refund issue?

I've never used PayPal before. I have to refund someone $100 USD but they want me to send it to their business account (different account than what they originally used). Would that still satisfy the refund?

Hello @ruireyy

Welcome! Thanks for visiting PayPal's Community Forum. This is a great question. We do not recommend sending a refund any other way than going to the original transaction you received and clicking "Issue a refund". If you send a payment instead of issuing a refund, the original transaction may still be able to be disputed through PayPal or the sender's bank / credit card. Also, depending on the country the sender is in, their business account may not be able to receive Friends and Family payments, so they're most likely going to receive a fee for that transaction. Sending a refund outside of that "Issue a refund" button is not advisable for either party.

I hope that helps,

Thanks that helps a lot! My issue is that apparently this person sent me money, but it isn't showing up on Activity page. According to the email I got (which appeared in my spam folder?) She sent me $200 USD and then another $100 USD which I then have to refund. Additionally, the email also said that the money is 'Pending'. However, none of these are showing up on my Activity page which makes me suspicious that there is no official record of it.

Hi again @ruireyy

I can certainly understand how that would be a little suspicious. You should never have to send money to receive money in PayPal. This is most assuredly not a legitimate situation.

I hope this found you in time. Best wishes on future transactions in the future,
