Setting currency conversion rate for Automatic Payments?

I have an automatic payment set up with a merchant with monthly billing. How can I make sure that the currency conversion is done by my Card Issuer and NOT by PayPal?

I remember, there used to be an option to select "Currency Conversion Method" where we could select if the conversion is to be done by PayPal or the card issuer, but I can't find that option now

Welcome back to the PayPal Community! 

I understand you'd like to learn more about changing the currency conversion option on an automatic payment. After adjusting the currency conversion settings, they will remain in effect for future automatic payments. You can update the settings by following these steps: 

On a Web Browser:
1. Click the Settings icon next to Log Out. 
2. Click on the Payments tag. 
3. Select Manage Automatic Payments. 
4. Choose the automatic payment you wish to update. 

5. Click on Bank or Card on File beside Payment Method. 
6. Click See Conversion Options next to the desired card. 
7. Select your currency conversion preference and then Agree. 

On the PayPal Mobile App:
1. Click on your Wallet. 
2. Scroll down and select Automatic Payments. 
3. Choose the automatic payment you wish to update. 
4. Click See Conversion Options under your selected payment method. 
5. Select your currency conversion preference and then Agree.
