I sent my friend money to an email address that did not go through. It was an old email account and she got into the old email but it had no notification of money being sent. She tried to get her paypal to reset the account where that email was attached and is not showing it is linked. We cannot find where the money went.

If it states money SENT then it has successfully transferred to the email address you sent the funds to that is linked to an active and open paypal account. If the old email had never been linked to a paypal account it would show as unclaimed and not sent.
If she can't access that account that is linked to her old paypal account that is still open then she would need the help of customer services.
Contact options for each countries Paypal customer services are accessed by clicking help/contact bottom left of Paypal pages.
1. Paypal phones (you can use the guest option if you can't log in).
2. Live chat is also randomly available.
3. You can send them a message, (during business hours you may also be able to message whilst logged out).
4. Have you considered contacting Customer Service via Facebook or Twitter?
You can send them a private direct message via Social Media on Facebook, Twitter/X, or Instagram pages.

I am having the same problem. The money cannot have been claimed by the recipient since they tried to access their old Paypal account and it shows as non-existent but I am now left with a blocked Paypal account since I have a negative Paypal balance for money that has not been claimed.

The transaction shows as sent but the recipient can't access the account. He does not recall what email he had on that account and trying to use the forgotten password option does not work. I have tried to contact Paypal via chat but as it is a family-friends transaction I get no options to report the incident. The sent money would end up stuck since he has no way to login to the account.

Read my first reply above to the original poster, if its saying SENT then they have received it so should do what I said in that post.
