Refused refund with proof of return

I recently had a case open where I was still waiting for a return of funds to my account. The purchase was made via Pay in 3, but I returned the item in store (which I was told I could do). I did this, then waited for my refund and have still not received anything. I opened a dispute, and posted proof of my return of item to the store and just today, PayPal have closed my case and refused my refund. All of this has been going on since the beginning of May, the original purchase made on the 25th of April. What do I do now? Every time I ring PayPal they say there’s nothing they can do, every time I contact the supplier, I get told it’s with PayPal. I’m £80 out of pocket and can’t seem to get my money back! Help!

Which dispute did you open? If it was item received but not as described then paypal would want a tracking number proving delivery of the item to the merchant before you got a refund (if you won the claim).

If however it was just buyer remorse and you returned it then that is not covered by paypal and would be for you to sort out with the merchant or private legal action?

@kernowlass Thanks for your reply. It was that exactly as you said but I don’t know how to file for a refund, I thought it would just be put back in to my account automatically in all fairness. Was that stupidity on my behalf? I contacted the supplier after a day or 2 regarding the refund not being sent. They advised I wait up to a week and if nothing is there, contact PayPal. I did this and they said the supplier had still not released funds from their side to put into my account. I feel like I’m running round in circles trying to get my money back. As I said before, I have all the proof of return etc which I have sent to PayPal. The merchant doesn’t seem to want to do anything as they say it’s down to PayPal why I haven’t received my money and I don’t really want to go down the route of contacting a private legal firm to sort this out either. If you were in this position, what would be your next step?

Re-read my first sentence in above post, you would only get a refund via a dispute if you won that dispute and provided paypal with a tracking number to prove the return of the item. You could not do that as you did not send the item with tracking did you?
