Refund when the money hasn't been taken yet

Hi all! I don't think I've experienced this before, and I just had a question.

I had a few payments that went through the bank. It was very recent so the money hasn't actually been withdrawn yet. I then asked for a refund, which was accepted on all payments.

How will this work? Will my money just stay in the bank, or will it be eventually taken and then just placed back in?

thanks!

If you funded the payment to the seller using bank transfer. What PayPal do here is credit the recipient on your behalf (so there is no delay in despatching your item). Then if you receive a refund in the meantime they are unable to issue this until the original bank transfer completes.
