Refund not in bank account

I ordered an item using my debit card with PayPal which then had to be refunded by the shop. They processed the refund on the 22.10.23 and PayPal is showing as complete and apparently arrived in my bank on the 25.10.23 but there is no sign of the money at all in my bank account? I contacted the seller who said it’s processed there end, the bank who says they can’t see incoming amounts. I’ve never had an issue with the money taking this long and I know it states 30 days but really!! Why?? We aren’t far off that now. I would just like reassurance that the money will arrive soon as it’s not a small amount and it’s very frustrating. Thank you

If you funded the original Paypal payment to the seller from your bank account or a card then once marked refunded/completed it will automatically go back to that bank account or card.
Normally it can take a few days up to a week to go back to a bank account. Paypal say allow 30 days for a card (1 billing cycle) but its rarely that long.
(Can vary according to country though).

Completed means paypal have sent the funds, how long that refund takes to process on your bank or card is up to your bank or card issuer.

hi, it seems like this is very common lately and sadly there is no clear advice

it seems like PayPal has huge issues with withdrawals in EU ( I am personally missing my funds for almost a month) since end of September

and so many people face the same ( it might be missing prefix of bank account number) , I think you can contact your bank if they can see any kind of activity / funds coming to your account or are able to trace, you have to contact PayPal customer support as well so they do the same...

p.s. - 30 days is not rare but new norm it seems...

Thank you, I appreciate your response. I will wait out the 30 days and then go from there. See what happens! I hope you receive yours too very soon.

Firstly this is not a withdrawal its a refund which is totally different. There has certainly been a known issue with withdrawals lately mainly in the Czech Republic where the original poster is not.

Secondly there is a clear answer which I gave you in my above post ie if its completed and you funded it via a bank account allow 5-7 days, if you funded it via a card then allow 30 days ie 1 billing cycle.

So, you're welcome.

a company made 2 un-authorized transaction and took $2 and $19, august 2023. It is link to my bank account. I reported and emailed a refund. Paypal shows completed refund on both. the $2 was immediatly refunded and was put in paypal balance. the $19 is nowhere to be found, it's been 3 months!

2 things possible....

The 2 may have come from your balance when you paid for the item so in that case it goes back to the balance.

The 19 may have come from a bank or card and automatically gone back there.

OR

When the 21 went into your balance as a refund you may have purchased something for 19 and so only the 2 showed as the 19 came from your balance and not linked funding source.

If neither of those option then contact customer services and query where your refund went?
