Refund amounts decreased!

I've recently received 2 refunds, but unlike the past, when I went to see if they appeared, they did, but the amounts were lessened. What type of fee would these refunds fall under?

If currency conversion was not involved and you were charged a fee to receive the payment then it was not sent as a refund but as a goods/services payment.

Hello and thanks for your reply. I am not certain if currency conversion was involved, but it may have been so. Also, would there be a reason that both companies would word them as "goods and services payments," as in, is it more advantageous for them? The first refund was $10, and I only got $9.07, but the second was $42.46, and I got $31.21. Of them both, the second one has me more upset, as that seems to be a huge chunk of change to be taken out. Thanks again for your reply.
