I have just received an email asking me to renew my yearly membership of a national organisation. However I have tried to log in but can't because it would appear that this organisation has permanently closed. I went into my emails to see if I could contact then through their office and found an email from paypal telling me that an automatic payment of £25 has been made.
If this company has gone bust how can they still take money from my account and can paypal recover it for me?

If within the PayPal transaction details there is contact info, use that to reach out to the PayPal account holder to request a refund too.
Otherwise, open a item not received dispute in the resolution center and provide link to merchant website in your explanation of the problem to show it leads to no where and defunct.
Also go into your automatic payments page and cancel the billing agreement:
How do I cancel an automatic payment I have with a merchant?
What is an automatic payment and how do I update it?
And permissions (if any were given):
How do I manage my Personal Data and Privacy Settings on my PayPal account?
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
