Payment on hold for purchase when it should be friend to friend sending money

My friend sent me money but for some reason PayPal thinks it was a purchase or a business payment. How do I switch that payment to be a friend sending me money because now it’s on hold for a purchase that never really took place. Help!!

Its down to how your friend sent the funds, if she chose goods/services instead of friends/family then yes paypal will see you as a seller and apply the new seller hold as per below link.

Sadly you can't change it once the funds have been sent.

Marking the transaction as processed then the sender may have the option on their account to mark the transaction as delivery/satisfied. If the sender confirms this by clicking on the "Confirm Receipt" button, funds may be released sooner ie 7 days after the sender verifies receipt. This is not always available or guaranteed. 
If not then sadly its 21 days.
