I sold something on instagram, and then when the woman “payed”me I recieved an email from email: [removed] saying my funds are on hold and that she needs to send me an additional 200$ which then I need to refund to get my momey. And she sent me a screenshot of “confirmation” that she did it and is asking me to refund her 200$ now. I have no notification about this on my paypal app, just email. And shes calling me a scammer now.

Hello @milenadoncic26

Thanks for joining the PayPal Community to ask your question!

I understand you've received an email stating that the buyer needs to send extra money for you to receive the payment. I'm sorry that you've been put in this situation; you are most definitely not a scammer. Please do not send them any money. The email you had included was not a PayPal email address. Additionally, neither you or a buyer would have to pay extra fees for you to receive a payment or release it from a hold. Please refer to this PayPal Help Center article to learn how to determine if an email is from PayPal. You can also learn about common scams on our Help Center. This specific Help Center article is a US article; however, the information applies to everyone.

I hope this information helps you stay safe and avoid scams!

The exact same thing has happened to me on Facebook marketplace! I blocked her as soon as I received an email to say she had to pay an additional £300 for the money to be released. I’m now worried she will start posting on Facebook that I’ve stolen from her 😟
