My friend hasn't collected the money I gifted to her for months.

Hi

Some time ago i sent a money girft to a friend way back last year on the 8th of October 2023 and until this very day she has not been able to retrieve the money.

She has a Paypal account but i was informed that the money has been placed into her google account. Im not sure what account but her name and gmail account are setup in her profile on Paypal.

The money still has not been accepted or collected as she is unable to.

Any suggestions as to what i should do.

I am now considering to file a report and have money transfered back to me.

Paypal does not send funds to a google wallet only to a paypal balance.

What country is she in?

What does it say on the transaction in your paypal account?

How did you send ie goods/services or friends/family.

She lives in Kenya

Her account didnt meet some sort of criteria and i was told by her she has submissted the document that Paypal ask for her to do and they have replied that needs to wait 180 days.

She is in the Philipines

It only says it was sent through Direct debit and she hasnt been able to collect it becuase possible an error on her behalf,  i assume due to her maiden name that has changed as she was using her late husband surname who has now passed away.

There has been no action taken on her to collect the money

I have the transaction id and the amount sent.

Other than that i recall i emailed Paypal regarding this problem and they said this transaction is now closed.

I should have the right to ask for the money to be refunded back into my account.

Just the other day i sent another transaction to a another friend thinking all was good to go as a gift, and the same thing has happened again to me. Her account was set up correctly but the money can not be recieved because paypal ( claim ) and said i sent it through as a business transaction in which i never do. I always send moeny as a gift to a friend.

I contacted Paypal immediatly ,two days ago as the money can not be collected by this new friend and she was told that she needed to wait 180 day?

I then emailed Palypal about this and their reply to me was, in regards to the second person that this matter or case is now closed.

Twice ( 2 x ) this has happened now to me, and the recipiant can not get the money i gifted to them.

Just thought id upade my situation after strugging for days with paypal.

Here is their reponse.....

 

Hi Nino. I tried to call you but it was only ringing.

I understand your friend cannot access her account due to some issues. Did she actually call PayPal and speak to someone or did she just try to access her account? If she already contact PayPal and her account is restricted or limited for 180 days, I'm afraid the last option would be for you to contact your card issuer or your bank so they can help you dispute this charge.

I am unable to do anything on my end as well. I'm so sorry.

This is not the experience we want you to have, Nino.

If her account has been limited, please advise her to contact PayPal to try and resolve it. If it can't be lifted, please instruct her to send the refund outside PayPal.

Another option is to contact your card company and file a dispute for this payment. Once we receive a notification from your bank regarding the report, we will work hand and hand with them to help you getting your funds back.

Here is my reply to them

 

Hi i have asked her but she says its so difficult to deal with Paypal and to contact your department and I believe she is connect. I will contact my financial instituting and dispute this transaction. This has been such a stressful situation for me and her and she really needed the funds. I am sorry to say with time i will end my services here with paypal because this is twice now this has happened and i was not able to assist another one of my friends. The last transaction was with another lady called Esitila xxxxxxx i sent her money and she was not able to get it. I have been loosing money here on Paypal for no reason and i this is so poor in service that has left me totally dismayed about this proceeding. This young lady needed my help and Paypal failed her not honouring a simple request and that was to send her my money. You have even charged me for your services and done nothing to assist me. This is absolutely appalling. You have tried to call me but your number does not allow my telecommunication provider to accept strange numbers so i am going around in circles here. Why do you even provide such a service if you are not able to transfer it to another paypal site and block this person when i told you specifically she needs the money. Its my money, just give it back to me. You are all one company and thats paypal and it not another financial institution. So whats the issue.

The friend comes from Kenya

I have contacted her and she has told me that she unable to access her account.

I was told by Paypal that she can reverse the trasaction but it is now very unlikey as she can not log in.
