Money debited from bank after refund was issued.

Hi! I had made a purchase on eBay using my PayPal account in August, but I never received my order. So, yesterday the seller refunded me, citing that my package was probably lost in transit somewhere and I received emails from both PayPal and eBay about the refund. Now, PayPal says that my refund is complete (and I understand that it can take sometime for the credit to reflect in my bank), but yesterday they also debited money from my bank account right after I was issued the refund. Is this standard refund procedure? Actually, this is my first time receiving a refund through PayPal, so I'd really appreciate it if someone could chime in! Thank you!

PS I had made the payment with my debit card and PayPal says that they issued the refund to my card itself.

Hello @Iambicpotato,

Welcome and thank your for posting your concern.

We are sorry to hear about the issue with your refund and we understand how frustrating this must be for you. Once the status shows as completed in PayPal means we have refunded the amount to your funding source and it will automatically transfer the refund to your debit card. Once we issued refunds usually take up to 5 business days to complete. Some refunds may take up to 30 days, depending on the status of the payment at the time the refund was issued. Please refer the help centre article Where is my refund? for more details regarding the refund status, time frame to receive the refund.

If you can use see the amount has been refunded but has been taken back from your debit card, we suggest to check with your bank for transaction detail.

Hope this information is helpful for your!

Warm Regards,
Shradha

Thank you for the reply! I am happy to report that the refund was processed and credited to my bank account after 3-4 working days, and I didn't have to do anything manually, on my end.
