Issue Refund

A customer was looking for a refund of 8.05. When I logged into my account it said the payment that was made to me initially was on hold. And my account went to -7.43 this is without the selling fee 0.62. It said I couldn't do anything until my account is positive. I put 7.43 to set my balance to zero. This 7.43 has came out of my bank account. I asked the customer if they received this 7.43 and they said no still looking for full 8.05 refund. So if I send 8.05 onto the customer I will be -15.48. I don't want to do this. Can someone explain where the 7.43 has gone?
